The Cabildo re-edits the project 'Professional Film Workshops of the Canary Islands'

The Minister of Employment, Manuel Cabrera, highlighted "the magnificent labor absorption" of the workshops of the first edition, and encouraged "the people of Lanzarote to participate in the scheduled programs, because the knowledge acquired will undoubtedly facilitate finding a job"

The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Employment Area, has launched the second edition of the project 'Professional Film Workshops of the Canary Islands', which last year led to 30 employment contracts among the participants. In this sense, the Councilor responsible for the aforementioned Area, Manuel Cabrera, highlighted today "the magnificent labor absorption" that the first edition had and encouraged "the people of Lanzarote" to register in the four workshops scheduled this year "because the knowledge acquired will undoubtedly facilitate the participants to find a job, given the potential that the island has in terms of filming movies and commercials".

The councilor expressed his gratitude to the Arrecife City Council, Teguise City Council and the management of the IES Zonzamas for the transfer of spaces for the celebration of the workshops; as well as Ismael Curbelo, as representative of the 'Lanzarote Film Commission' of the Society for the Promotion of Foreign Affairs of Lanzarote (Turismo Lanzarote-SPEL), the Art Director, Teresa Díez, and the commercial director in the Canary Islands of Professional Cinematographic Equipment (EPC), Mercedes Pérez, as promoters of this initiative that has a budget of 19,508 euros from FDCAN funds of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The four workshops, which will be taught between September 24 and October 26, will offer free training to unemployed people and workers linked to the film sector, mainly, who will join the job bank of the 'Lanzarote Film Commission'. Workshops



- Assistant of Props and Stage Management: will be taught from September 24 to 28 at the old Nursing School of Teguise from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It will have a maximum of 20 participants (preferably with training in Fine Arts or similar and related experience) interested in accessing the labor market of audiovisual productions, cinema, television series or advertising in the art department or in the areas of props and stage management. It will offer knowledge about the aesthetics, era, style, language and design of a film. Also about sets, photography, locations, vehicles, etc., as well as the organization chart of an art team, the script, the production, the assembly and disassembly. It will have as speaker José Luis Saldaña Acle, a professional with more than 15 years of experience in film productions, television series and advertising in the art department. He has worked for directors such as Julio Medem, Terry George, Javier Fesser, Fernando León de Aranoa or Iñaki Mercero.

- DIT Digital Image Technical Assistant: with a duration of 20 hours and a maximum of 20 students, it will be taught from October 1 to 5 at the Arrecife Civic Center. Participants will acquire essential theoretical and practical training for the configuration of cameras, select and calibrate monitors and synchronize audios between production and post-production.


- Electrical Assistant in Audiovisual Productions: aimed at a maximum of 20 students, it will be taught from October 15 to 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Zonzamas Professional Training Center. It will prepare professional technicians in this area to complement the demand from the production companies that come to the island. The following aspects will be addressed: the physical nature of light, luminance, the luminous aspect, measurements and directions of light, projectors, management of natural and artificial light, lighting design (night, day, environmental and decorative). The necessary knowledge of an organization in a global audiovisual project, organization of departments and development of the same will also be taught. It will have as speaker Óscar González Etayo, a highly qualified professional in this sector, with more than 20 years of experience.

- Camera Assistant: will be taught from October 22 to 26 at the Arrecife Civic Center with a maximum of 15 students. It will provide participants with basic knowledge about equipment and attitude on the set. It will be divided into modules, starting with the camera check, the function of the assistant, the types of digital cameras on the market, digital workflow and practical part. Aimed at technicians in image or sound and similar, or in their case those other knowledge required for access to the training associated with this course.
