The Cabildo of Lanzarote has initiated the bidding process for the works to install a new space between the urban park of Playa Honda and the Plaza de Guacimeta, with the aim of creating a meeting point for social development in a free and public space.
This new urban park has a budget of 3,482,575.62 euros and will include a series of architectural and landscaping interventions, which will have a maximum execution period of 15 months from the award of the contract.
The Minister of Public Works, Roads and Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alfredo Mendoza, points out that "this work is part of the European Regional Development Fund, a way of making a sustainable urban development strategy under the Blue Conurban framework of the Sustainable Growth Program 2014-2020 that belongs to the operation of a Multipurpose Space for social coexistence that is developed in the municipality".
For his part, the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, is "satisfied" and points out that this intervention "extends, on the one hand, to the expansion of the Urban Park with different activity spaces and the improvement in vegetation and that it is the end of the city and, on the other hand, in the Plaza de Guacimeta, to establish a large space where activities and events can be organized with the purpose of serving as a maritime promenade for the city".
In addition, Councilor Mendoza recalls that with this work "the parking spaces in the area will be increased".
