The Culture area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote presented last Monday, to a large representation of the cultural sector of Lanzarote, a first advance of the draft of the Lanzarote Cultural Strategy 2030, a document that has been worked on since April 2020.
The meeting took place in the Buñuel Cinema of the CIC El Almacén and was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Island Corporation, Alberto Aguiar, several technicians from the department, and representatives of the cultural fabric of the island, such as groups, associations, companies, cultural promoters, theater companies, musical groups, artists and creators. In total, about thirty people attended.
The Lanzarote Cultural Strategy 2030 is divided into four main blocks. The first two make a diagnosis of culture in Lanzarote and its environment, and the third analyzes the weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities of the cultural reality on the island. Finally, the strategy is divided into several strategic axes (generic) and lines of action (specific).
The lines of work proposed by the Strategy are six: support for education and artistic training, improvement of communication and online culture, prioritization of cultural management, support for the local scene, coordination and inter-institutional planning of culture and evaluation of cultural action.
The Strategy contemplates the implementation of a Lanzarote Culture Observatory, an body in charge of collecting, processing and analyzing data on cultural activities carried out in Lanzarote; the coordination and monitoring of the different working groups between institutions and/or cultural agents; and the development of an annual report on the progress of the Lanzarote Cultural Strategy 2030.
The Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alberto Aguiar, has positively valued the meeting. “This document is a draft, it is not definitive, but its acceptance, in general, has been very good. And this is largely due to the fact that it has been working with the cultural sector itself for a year. It comes from the contributions made by the cultural agents themselves and, in fact, these days it returns to the sector itself, because we have reopened a period of contributions and suggestions until July 31,” Aguiar explained.
Likewise, the counselor assured that the next steps of the document will be its presentation to all the political groups of the Corporation, to the seven municipalities of the island, and, finally, after collecting all the contributions made by one and the other, its approval in the Plenary of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. “We want the process to be as participatory as possible. May it be a very consensual document,” concluded Alberto Aguiar.
