The Cabildo of Lanzarote has presented the sixth edition of the educational project 'Planéate 2021', an initiative "unique in the Canary Islands" aimed at presenting professional opportunities to students in the 4th year of ESO and the 1st and 2nd years of Bachillerato from the different educational centers on the Island.
The opening ceremony of this project, which will extend until mid-May and which will be, in this edition, entirely online, was attended by the president of the Island Corporation, María Dolores Corujo, the regional Minister of Education, Manuela Armas, and the Island Minister of Education, Paula Corujo.
Dolores Corujo thanked the Government of the Canary Islands for its support of the sixth edition of the professional opportunities exhibition, through the presence of Minister Manuela Armas, and highlighted the importance of a project that, especially during this year, "serves to clear up uncertainties, to illuminate possible paths that help our younger people decide on the tools with which they aspire to build their future."
Regarding the celebration of 'Planéate 2021' via telematics, the president hopes that future editions will incorporate face-to-face activity, although she points out that "this is a new example of how the pandemic has accelerated many of the changes that awaited us in the immediate future and that are here to stay, turning those expectations into the new reality."
The Minister of Education of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Paula Corujo, detailed the project, explaining that it focuses on guiding students to find the educational and professional path that best suits each student's profile, showing them all the higher education options available in Lanzarote, the Canary Islands, and other Communities, both Professional Education and Intermediate and Higher Level Cycles, and information on University Degrees, with academic information and the professional opportunities that are promoted from each education.
For her part, the Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuela Armas, took advantage of the meeting to announce the measures for modernization, resizing, and promotion of the offer of Professional Training, Specialized Education, and Adult Education, and congratulated the Cabildo of Lanzarote for the organization of 'Planéate 2021', also highlighting the effort of the regional Ministry in the evaluation and accreditation of basic skills, which will allow 26,000 workers with work experience, but without qualifications, to certify their professional knowledge.
During the duration of 'Planéate 2021', a chat will be made available to students, in which, through WhatsApp, they can ask questions about orientation, accommodation, university and vocational training studies; a webinar on employment and entrepreneurship will be held; the second Serendipia meeting will take place; and, finally, the talk 'FuTÚro is written with an accent mark', by education expert Ramón Barrera.
The presentation can be viewed through the official Facebook page of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the official YouTube channel. For more information, you can visit www.planeatelanzarote.es.
