The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Social Welfare and Inclusion led by counselor Marci Acuña, has premiered the third chapter of the docuseries Mi lugar favorito, which brought together more than 500 people at the Víctor Fernández Gopar ‘El Salinero’ Theater in Arrecife. Titled "Entre lazos y luces" (Between bonds and lights), the production invited attendees on an emotional journey through the details that connect us with others, from daily preparations to shared moments around the table, highlighting the importance of companionship in community life.

The screening was attended by councilor Marci Acuña, who highlighted how the series reflects "a life model centered on the person, where autonomy and affection are the basis of social relationships." Acuña stressed that stories like those in My Favorite Place invite us to "reflect on care from closeness and on each person's right to decide how and with whom to live."

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has defined this project as an ideal audiovisual and creative tool “to show the importance of community ties and inclusion, and they remind us that each person has their place and their voice in our society”.

My Favorite Place brings us the life stories of Marisol Hernández, Francisco Javier Barrios, Nadia Kurbeh, Noelia Álvarez, and Yacorán Benasco, five individuals with significant support needs who now live together in a community home located in the heart of Arrecife and who have experienced the transition from a welfare-based model to a new person-centered approach to care.

Through their stories, the process of deinstitutionalization and the shift towards a new, more autonomous and inclusive approach to care is documentedThe third chapter sets the action at a particularly significant time: Christmas. Throughout the episode, the viewer enters the protagonists' shared home to experience the arrival of these holidays alongside them, delving into the importance of personal relationships and emotional bonds.

Through the stories of Yacorán, Marisol, and Nadia, it is shown how emotional bonds sustain and define people, also featuring reflections from Quino, Jorge Caluz, and some family members, who offer a perspective on inclusion understood as a diverse social ecosystem in which everyone has their place.

This innovative project, driven by the Cabildo de Lanzarote along with the ADISLAN entity and the Cabildo's Culture Department, is part of the Insular Strategy for Accessibility and Inclusion executed by the Institution chaired by Oswaldo Betancort during the current term, in a series of planned actions being carried out on the Island of Care. In this specific case, the Cabildo is joining the state initiative My Home: A Life in Community, which was promoted by Plena Inclusión, an organization that has been working for several years to open avenues for strengthening community connections.
