The Lanzarote Cabildo has celebrated the 'I Insular Culture Table' with the aim of starting to work on an 'Insular Cultural Plan' that values the identity, heritage and crafts of the island.
In this line, the Culture Councilor of the Lanzarote Cabildo, Jesús Machín Tavío, met with the Culture councilors of the island's City Councils to discuss "issues related to the best coordination" of the cultural agenda between Cabildo and City Councils in order to achieve "greater visibility and success" in the events programmed by the Culture departments.
In addition, as challenges to be achieved from the island level, there is the "creation of a federation or cultural entity" that brings together all associations, including native games and sports; the implementation of a calendar of island events that promote local talent; propose the project of the Insular Congress Palace; promote the creation and sale of handicrafts; build an island archaeological museum; create an island carnival project; execute the Zonzamas Site Museum, and recover the mills, the molinas, the lime kilns and the salt flats of the Island.
Finally, Machín Tavío thanked the participation of the Culture councilors in this first Insular Table and guaranteed "the commitment of the Cabildo to the growth of the sector and to the proposal of initiatives that enhance the rich and unique history of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and that we must rescue and promote".
