The Cabildo of Lanzarote inaugurated this Monday morning the new parking annex to the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, a space with about 100 new parking spaces.

The president of the Island Council, Oswaldo Betancort, and the vice president and head of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, were present at the opening of this new parking lot located next to the outpatient clinics of the capital's hospital center. The manager of the Hospital, Pablo Eguía, and the director of the Health area, Esther Machín, among other island authorities, also attended the event.

“We set a clear objective a year ago, and that was to solve the problem suffered by patients of the island's main hospital when it comes to getting parking. Now, we can say that we have taken a first step with the opening of this parking lot, and we will continue working to be able to continue enabling new parking areas adjacent to the hospital,” said the president of the Corporation, Oswaldo Betancort.

The vice president, Jacobo Medina, said for his part that this work “represents a great relief for the thousands of patients who frequent the hospital daily. We are fully aware that it is not enough, so we can announce that from the Public Works area we are working on drafting the project for a new elevated parking lot with about 300 parking spaces, similar to the one located in the mother-child of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria”, added Medina.

This work, carried out after the investment of 342,000 euros of own funds from the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has generated 94 new parking spaces, three of them intended for vehicles for people with reduced mobility.
