The Cabildo of Lanzarote definitively approves its budget for 2023

Accounts that will have around "200 million euros" and will focus on "social rights, employment, education and transport, among others"

The Cabildo of Lanzarote definitively approved last Tuesday, April 11, in an extraordinary Plenary Session the General Budget for the year 2023, according to reports.

María Dolores Corujo, detailed that “this will have about 200 million euros, after the approval of the incorporation of remainders to the 170.3 million euros foreseen, in order to improve the endowment for current expenses, subsidies and other public investments”.

Likewise, the Island Corporation agreed to "the investment of 20,747,118.3 euros in terms of nominated subsidies, corresponding both to the figure consigned in the Budget project, and to the extraordinary credit that is incorporated into the accounts."

"They aim to support people on the Island, especially those most in need"

Aid that will aim to "support a significant number of organizations, associations, groups and people on the Island in the various activities they perform, paying special attention to those most in need of these benefits," they conclude.

The Budget represents "an increase of almost 52 million euros compared to 2021 and the one extended in 2022 and is characterized by its marked social character, with a large volume of resources destined to promote equality and protection of the most vulnerable people and groups in society," they make clear.

"Special emphasis will be placed on Social Rights, Employment, Education, Transport..."

By specific areas, the Cabildo "will place special emphasis on the Department of Social Rights," they clarify, "reinforcing in the new document the items allocated to the care of Dependency." In addition, the creation of the new Island Service of Comprehensive Care for Dependency of Lanzarote (SAIDIL) "will involve the investment of more than 26 million euros until 2024, which will be mostly financed by the dependency agreement by the Government of the Canary Islands."

They also highlight, "the investments and the increase of the items that are proposed in areas such as the Primary Sector, Employment, Education, the Environment, Transport, Animal Welfare or Waste", among others.
