The Cabildo is working on the improvement and cleaning of the median of the LZ-2

During these weeks, operators belonging to the UTE Márgenes Lanzarote, which provides service to the Cabildo, are working on the cleaning and tidying of the median of the LZ-2 road, specifically between the César Manrique Airport and Arrecife.

"These are weeding and pruning operations of robust plants in this area and are included in the different actions that we are carrying out with the objectives of beautifying the island and creating new jobs", explained the vice president and Minister of Public Works, Coordination and Project Planning.

For this purpose, the Cabildo intends to tender this service again, which ends in November 2019, with the aim of "continuing with the cleaning and beautification of the median and the margins of the island's roads, which represent an investment of close to one and a half million euros by the Cabildo and the hiring of 24 operators until next year 2021", according to Medina.

Specifically, the works that are being carried out during these days on the LZ-2 highway, the gateway to our island through the Airport, consist of cleaning the median and eliminating invasive flora, as well as pruning palm trees on the margins and beautifying the garden areas.

Among the next actions, the Cabildo highlights the cleaning of the margins of the LZ-40 roads, towards the Airport to Puerto del Carmen; the intersection LZ-2 with LZ-501 at the height of Los Lirios in Tías and the road that connects Arrieta and the Mirador del Río (LZ-201 and LZ- 203). "It is essential for this Government to improve the cleanliness of our island with actions such as this, which also involve the generation of employment among the most vulnerable population", concluded Jacobo Medina.
