The Councilor for Industry, Commerce, Consumption and Energy of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Emilio Bermúdez, has confirmed that the food chain Mercadona is processing the projects for its implementation on the island. The councilor requested a meeting with this supermarket chain to find out what their expansion plans were. The meeting finally took place this Thursday at the Cabildo headquarters.
The councilor thanked the Mercadona representatives for accepting his request and described the conclusions of the meeting as "very satisfactory". "The implementation of this company will significantly influence the price of the island's shopping basket," he said.
In this way, Mercadona has informed Bermúdez that it plans to open two establishments in the municipality of Arrecife and a third in Tías. "Now everything is pending the city councils speeding up the procedures for the qualification of land," said the councilor.
