The Vice President and Councilor of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, recently supervised the cleaning work on the northern road of the island to guarantee road safety and improve the image of our island

Medina paid a visit to the road that connects Tahíche and Arrieta, where important cleaning work is being carried out on the drains and ditches. These tasks are part of a comprehensive plan to improve the road network, which is especially important given the proximity of the rainy season. With this action, the Cabildo of Lanzarote intends not only to guarantee road safety, but also to contribute to improving the image of our island, offering clean, safe and in perfect condition infrastructures.

Jacobo Medina stressed during the visit that the main objective of these works is to be forward-looking and ensure that the roads are prepared for the upcoming rains. “The safety of our citizens and those who visit us is a priority. We want to avoid problems derived from rainfall, such as floods or landslides, and that is why we are acting in advance, taking preventive measures. This cleaning and maintenance plan is part of our commitment to road safety and the conservation of our infrastructures,” said the vice president.

The councilor also stressed the importance of these actions not only from a safety perspective, but also to improve the image of the island. “We are a tourist destination and it is essential that our infrastructures reflect a careful, modern and clean image. These works also contribute to enhancing the beauty of our landscapes, something that both residents and visitors undoubtedly appreciate,” he explained.

Comprehensive improvement plan throughout the island

The cleaning and maintenance work on catch basins and ditches is part of a global plan that is being carried out on all the island's roads. These tasks are essential to ensure that the drainage system works efficiently, minimizing the risk of flooding and preventing deterioration of the pavement, which could compromise the safety of drivers.

Jacobo Medina highlighted the effort and commitment of the Cabildo's road conservation team, to whom he thanked for their dedication. “The road conservation team has been working tirelessly to ensure that our roads are in the best possible condition. Their work is crucial for this improvement plan to be carried out successfully, and thanks to them we are moving firmly towards our goal,” he added.

These interventions are in addition to a series of actions framed within the Cabildo's infrastructure plan, whose purpose is to guarantee a safer and more modern road network, contributing not only to the mobility of citizens, but also to the tourist and economic development of the island.

Improving the safety and image of our island

With these actions, the Cabildo not only intends to respond to the technical and maintenance needs of the roads, but also to reinforce the image of the island as a place where infrastructures are well cared for and constantly improving.

“It is important that both citizens and tourists perceive a clean, organized island that takes care of its natural and road resources. The conservation of our roads and the prevention of meteorological phenomena is also a way of showing our responsibility as managers and as a society,” concluded Jacobo Medina.
