The Cabildo of Lanzarote has started the works for the installation of a pipe for rainwater drainage on the LZ-1 road, which connects Arrecife and Órzola, near the town of Tahíche, thus improving road safety in the area.

The work has an investment of 78,255.07 euros, financed through FDCAN funds, and the company in charge of carrying out the actions will be Transportes y Excavaciones Tiagua, S.L. The execution period will be two months from the start of these.

The island councilor of Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, explained that the work is part of the Surface Hydraulics Program for Avenues and stressed that the main objective of this is "to solve the puddles that form on that section of the road during the rainy season."

"Over the years, the existing filtering wells have stopped fulfilling their function, reducing their capacity almost entirely, so, with the execution of this work, there will be fluidity in the drainage of rainwater and comfort for road users, in order to reduce possible risks, achieving a safer and more comfortable circulation," the councilor detailed.

The works will take place from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the section between Ernesto Cardenal Street and the "Tahiche" bus stop, on Campo Amor Avenue.

From the Cabildo they detail that, with the aim of causing the least possible disruption to road users, the works will be carried out with the traffic open, except at specific times and that, for the safety of workers and drivers, the lane towards Órzola will be closed, in the section of Néstor de la Torre Avenue.
