The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has asked the population to also present complaints and denunciations for the service provided by Canal Gestión to the Water Consortium. “The situation is unsustainable, with billing that does not correspond to a service that is not up to par with a 21st century society,” she pointed out.
Corujo pointed out that, although Canal Gestión is directly responsible for the service, to which any claim must be submitted, “it is necessary for the Consortium to have direct knowledge of the complaints about the malfunctioning of the service in order to adopt the necessary measures to put an end to the abuse that many of its users are suffering”.
Thus, the president has expressed her desire that the channeling of neighborhood demands through this body help Canal Gestión “to carry out a deep reflection and adopt the measures it deems appropriate to correct its trajectory on the island.”
In this sense, Corujo recalled that “just a year ago” she requested the collaboration of the island's mayors to coordinate, expedite and facilitate the processing of citizen complaints about the water service and billing with this objective.
Finally, the president of the Cabildo lamented “the lack of sensitivity” that the only company that provides this service on the island has shown to date. “There are still many individuals and farmers harmed by the cuts, breakdowns, leaks and losses that continue to occur in a network that, apparently, was not modernized as much as some promised it would be, and who find themselves in a situation of total defenselessness and inequality to solve the problem that an exorbitant bill poses to them, in many cases, also, without any reason or cause that justifies it,” she concluded.
