The Governing Council of the Cabildo has approved the call for grants in sports matters corresponding to the 2020-21 financial year through the competitive concurrence procedure for a total amount of 750,000 euros.

Specifically, the First Island Institution will allocate 280,000 for Island Sports Schools; 425,000 euros for the travel of athletes and teams, and 45,000 euros for high competition athletes.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, assures that the step taken this Monday "will allow to speed up the processing of a basic tool for the clubs, fundamental in the formative process of our young athletes instilling positive values, and for the day to day of those who walk the name of Lanzarote in the main meetings and competitions of the planet".

The aid to the Sports Schools aims to contribute to cover the expenses derived from the organization and implementation of sports schools of interest and island scope.

For their part, the subsidies for travel are aimed at covering the expenses associated with the transfer of individual athletes and teams residing in Lanzarote and La Graciosa who participate in official competitions outside both islands.

Finally, the Cabildo will allocate 45,000 euros to contribute to the expenses caused by the training sessions and to attend official competitions to individual athletes who meet the criteria set in the bases of the call, which can be consulted in the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

Applications must be registered in the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, in the section corresponding to "Subsidies". Those who wish to obtain more information can contact the Island Sports Service, on the telephone 928 81 01 00.
