The Cabildo approves demanding a "fairer representation" of the Chamber of Commerce in Ports

The plenary session has approved the motion presented by CC as an institutional declaration

The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Cabildo has expressed its "satisfaction" after the Island Plenary has decided to approve as an institutional declaration its motion for the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote to have "a fairer representation" in the Port Authority

Specifically, the nationalists requested that, in defense of the economic interests of the island within the Port Authority, the Government of the Canary Islands be urged to modify the agreement of the Governing Council of February 25, 2021.

In this way, they affirm that the representation of the Chambers of Commerce of the province of Las Palmas in the Board of Directors of the Port Authority would be improved, "which would be exercised in a rotating manner, but more equitably among the three islands belonging to the aforementioned province."

Thus, "the disproportionate representation system recently approved, which means six months for Fuerteventura, six for Lanzarote and 36 for Gran Canaria, would be corrected, and the demands of the two non-capital eastern islands would be met," concludes CC.
