The Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas published this Monday an extract of the call for subsidies to promote new agri-food companies that has been launched by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, corresponding to this year 2021. The full text of these grants can be found in the National Database of Subsidies.

These grants, endowed with a total amount of 100,000 euros, are intended to encourage the creation of small agri-food companies on the island, as well as the adaptation of these companies to current market demands, the purchase of machinery and equipment, and even for the acquisition of patents and licenses. However, the amount of the subsidy may not exceed 40% of the budget of the activity, with a maximum of 20,000 euros.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, stressed that "the primary sector is fundamental and strategic for the island's economy, so we will spare no effort to meet their demands and bet on their modernization and diversification."

In this same vein, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, explains that "the primary sector needs an urgent injection of liquidity, especially those small self-employed who have started their economic activity providing added value to agricultural products, such as cheese factories, packers or other processing companies."

In order to be eligible for this call, interested parties must submit their applications within 30 calendar days, starting on Tuesday, May 18. Applications, which will be available to all interested parties in the offices of the Experimental Agricultural Farm, can be submitted both in the General Registry of entry of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and in the Insular Agrarian Service.
