The SPEL Board rejects the dissolution request

The Extraordinary General Meeting of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society held this Friday approved, among other agreements aimed at solving the administrative errors that the SPEL had been dragging, to reject the request for dissolution presented by the Board of Directors as the reasons for it had disappeared, according to the legal and economic reports provided.

Once the session was over, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, stated that "we should congratulate ourselves on the results of a mixed society that has more than achieved the objectives with which it was created, among them, the most important ones, those of collegiately making decisions giving participation to the sector and co-financing promotional actions, which have amounted to about 3.3 million euros, of which 700,000 have been contributed by private initiative". San Ginés believes that it would be "absurd to dissolve the SPEL, as requested by the Popular Party, because it has been demonstrated today that there is no cause for it nor a valid alternative instrument".

Similarly, Pedro San Ginés thanked the work done by the island's town councils, which, "although they had not responded to their commitments to the Society, have made an effort of responsibility certifying the contributions owed, although it is true that they were driven by the new political direction of the Tourism area and by the management of the Society, who rejected from the beginning the dissolution path proposed by the PP and worked hard to find a real solution to this problem".
