The Councilor of Beaches of Tías accuses the PSOE of trying to damage the tourist image of Puerto del Carmen

The Beaches Councilor of Tías, Yolanda García, has accused the PSOE of "trying to harm" the tourist image of Puerto del Carmen, [by denouncing the state of Playa Chica->72808]. The councilor assures that the conditions for swimming in this sandy area are "excellent" and clarifies that the blue flag has been removed because this year the City Council has been asked to "install a first aid booth, which requires authorization from the General Directorate of Coasts."

The councilor has lamented that "from the PSOE of Tías, and even worse from the person who has led Tourism in recent years of the socialist municipal government, they are trying to use this fact politically, through falsehoods without caring about the damage they can do to the tourist image of Puerto del Carmen and more specifically to that of Playa Chica, whose seabed also has an incalculable value for diving."

In this sense, Yolanda García highlights the efforts she has made before the General Directorate of Coasts to transfer sand from Los Pocillos to Playa Chica, which "if it is characterized by anything, it is precisely by the cleanliness and care of its environment". The councilor also recalls that "last summer the blue flag was removed for a while on this beach because the previous government group had allocated only one lifeguard for its surveillance, a fact that we corrected by allocating two lifeguards since then."

"Now we will go to Coasts again to start the appropriate procedures so that we are authorized to install the lifeguard and rescue station on the beach which remains one of the best beaches in Lanzarote, whether or not it flies the blue flag," she says. What the councilor does not consider "acceptable is that the PSOE lies and sells in the media that our beaches are dirty without caring about the damage it does to the tourist image of Puerto del Carmen."
