The Autonomous Civil Protection Commission approves the seven municipal emergency plans

The Civil Protection and Emergency Care Commission in the Canary Islands has approved this week 12 municipal emergency plans (PEMU), of which seven correspond to the municipalities of Lanzarote. It has also approved the 2019 Forest Fire Emergency Plans of El Hierro (INFOHI) and La Palma (INFOPAL), as well as the Island Emergency Plan (PEIN) of Tenerife.

As for the approved municipal plans, in addition to those of Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías and Tinajo in Lanzarote, it has approved those of Agüimes, Fuencaliente, Ingenio, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Teror.

Also, during the meeting held this Monday, the draft Decree on the Regulation of Local Volunteer Groups and collaborating entities of Civil Protection of the Canary Islands was presented, which had a favorable report.

The Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands and president of the commission, Julio Pérez, explained that the Government of the Canary Islands will regulate by decree the system of accreditation and organization of volunteers who can act in emergency cases as part of the civil protection system of the Canary Islands.

Other plans

The meeting also analyzed the Extra-hospital Contingency Plan of the Materno-Infantil Hospital of Gran Canaria, a pioneering plan of its kind, which aims to foresee the actions to be followed by a center in the event that an emergency outside or external to the center itself, that is, non-health, requires extraordinary hospital actions.

In addition to studying the proposal and reporting favorably on it to propose its approval, the commission considered that it is an example that could be followed by other hospitals.

The commission also issued a favorable report on the General Flood Risk Management Plan of La Gomera.

The Civil Protection and Emergency Care Commission of the Canary Islands is a collegiate body of a consultative and deliberative nature, of participation, coordination and integration of Public Administrations in matters of civil protection and holds the superior power of approval of emergency plans in the scope of the Autonomous Community.

It is composed of representatives of the Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, of the General State Administration in the Canary Islands, of the island councils and of the Canarian municipalities.
