The "Arrecife for Employment 2011" program will provide jobs for 33 people

The Arrecife City Council and the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) have launched the "Arrecife for Employment 2010" program, which will involve the hiring of 33 workers. The primary objective is to alleviate the high unemployment rate in the capital municipality. The program, which is presented within the framework of the "Canarias Emplea Plan", is financed by the State Public Employment Service, and may be co-financed by 80 percent by the European Social Fund.

The councilor of the Local Employment and Development Agency (AEDL), Isabel Mesa Mesa, received this Thursday, in the assembly hall of the Municipal Archive of Arrecife, the 33 workers who are part of this employment program. This campaign began on December 15 with the hiring of the first 14 people. Subsequently, 19 people were hired on December 20. In this way, 33 people have been hired for a period of six months in different professional categories.

Isabel Mesa explained that the 33 workers will carry out tasks of school support, psychological interventions in areas of Social Services, rehabilitation and maintenance of schools and information in the tourist area, among others. For this, a technician in sociocultural animation, four administrative assistants, three tourist information officers, a graduate in physical education, as well as a sports monitor and three janitors have been hired.

In addition, a gardener, a gardening assistant, an environmental monitor, two psychologists, a street educator, five graduates in Education, three painters and four painter's assistants will work for the capital City Council for the next six months.

Mesa pointed out, finally, that the subsidy received for the implementation of this program is 233,078.52 euros, while the City Council will pay for materials in an amount of 13,823.74 euros. In total, the "Arrecife for Employment 2010" program will have a budget of 246,902.26 euros.
