The Arrecife Magistrate's Court receives the request to order the imprisonment of Dimas Martín

Only the last step is missing for Dimas Martín's imprisonment, which will occur about ten days before Christmas. On the morning of this Tuesday, the Arrecife Dean's Office has received the request sent by the Provincial Court of Las Palmas last Friday. Now, the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 of Arrecife will be in charge of requiring the leader of the PIL to appear at the Tahíche Penitentiary Center within a maximum period of fifteen days. A period that will begin to count from the moment Dimas Martín receives this notification.

In addition, this Monday, Dimas Martín saw his last hope of delaying his imprisonment exhausted, since the Provincial Court decided to reject his request to postpone the execution of the Agroindustrial Complex sentence until the request for pardon that he has submitted to the Council of Ministers and the Appeals for Protection before the Constitutional Court were resolved.

"In attention to the seriousness and nature of the crimes for which Mr. Dimas Martín Martín has been convicted and, especially, to the total sum of the custodial sentences imposed, it is not considered appropriate to make use of the power that section 2 of article 4 of the Criminal Code grants to the sentencing Judges and Courts to suspend the execution of the sentence while the pardon is being processed", states the Provincial Court's writing.

As La Voz had anticipated, the possibilities of this postponement request being granted were practically nil, since one of the key requirements to achieve this measure is that the imposed sentence does not exceed five years in prison, and in this case Dimas Martín faces a sentence of eight years in prison for three crimes of embezzlement of funds, against the Treasury and against Social Security.

Thus, the countdown continues for the imprisonment of Dimas Martín, which would occur between December 13 and 15, depending on how long it now takes the Dean's Office to deliver this notification to the leader of the PIL.
