The Arrecife City Council, through the Infractions area, has formalized the contract for the Maintenance Service of the Acoustic Pollution Surveillance Network for a period of 4 years, they report. It has been awarded to the company Sistemas Ambientales Canarios SLU for an amount of 44,040 euros plus 3,082.80 euros in respect of IGIC. "Aware of noise pollution, the City Council "has decided to address this issue by applying the relevant law", with special attention to the Municipal Ordinance on Protection against Noise Pollution in Arrecife and Decree 86/2013, they state.
"The control of noise pollution will be carried out through a telematic platform using software, which will record the sound levels of the external environment and those obtained from the sound recorders installed in establishments with recreational activities of a musical or entertainment nature" in which "compliance is mandatory", they clarify. "All this in order to ensure that they do not exceed the limits established in the Ordinance", they explain.
"Through the platform, they will be able to examine the noise levels recorded in the city at any time"
In this way, remotely through a platform, they will be able to "examine the noise levels recorded in the city at any time, develop action plans and implement sanctioning measures against all those activities that do not comply with the regulations", they list. To this end, "sound level meters will be located at different strategic points in the city to control the city's noise levels".
"This is only an additional mandatory measure that does not exempt from complying with those already required, such as the soundproofing of premises or strict compliance with the schedules established by the Department of Industry of the Canary Islands Government", they anticipate. With the aim of "starting the path to improving Environmental Quality".
