The Arrecife bike lane works have already finished. Although they should have been finished in April, it was this weekend when the work was completed. The project has meant a change in the traffic on Avenida Fred Olsen, which has become a two-way road, and has lost most of the parking spaces.
Vehicles can now circulate from the Gran Hotel to the Cabildo along Avenida Marítima, which has a two-way direction. However, cars coming from the south of the island and entering Arrecife via Guenia street will only be able to turn towards the Cabildo and not towards the Gran Hotel. To take the direction towards the Gran Hotel, vehicles must enter Arrecife through the first exit, the one that is near the bus station, a few meters from the Cabildo.
Although almost all the parking spaces on the avenue have been eliminated, you can still park on Guenia street, where they have arranged several battery spaces, as well as on part of Avenida Fred Olsen, from the Hotel Diamar to the bus station.
With this change in traffic, this bike lane project, which has been full of delays, is finally finished. The Cabildo had to award the completion of the works last September 20, after having terminated the contract with Torrescl, S.L. Thus, it awarded the work to Hormigones Insulares S.L. (Horinsa) for a value of 73,905 euros.
This company has placed the vertical and horizontal signage or the tree pits, and has resurfaced the road that runs between the interchange and the Gran Hotel, given the state of the pavement and the existence of a surplus charged to the initial project, according to the Cabildo.
