The 2024 budgets have "14 million euros less" for Lanzarote

"Our president said that he was not going to put the colors before Lanzarote or La Graciosa, but I see that his silence speaks for itself," denounces Óscar Noda

The New Canary Islands councilor in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Óscar Noda, has spoken on the microphones of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to analyze the general budgets of the Canary Islands for 2024, where Lanzarote is the fifth island of the Archipelago in investment.

"It is a more than evident mistreatment for Lanzarote of a budget that increases by 1,100 million euros and where Lanzarote loses 14. However, I see those officials who coincide with the political colors that have initiated these budgets as complacent," denounced the councilor and also mayor of Yaiza.

"Our president said that he was not going to put the colors before Lanzarote or La Graciosa, but I see that his silence speaks for itself," denounced Óscar Noda.

Óscar Noda has pointed out that he understands that La Palma needs more investment after the consequences derived from the volcanic eruption suffered in 2021. However, Noda has highlighted that Lanzarote, the third most inhabited of the Archipelago, "is not even the fourth in investment."

The mayor of Yaiza has assured that in his municipality "nominated items" have disappeared. For example, they lose 500,000 euros in family reconciliation, 900,000 to rehabilitate the Benito Pérez Armas House of Culture. "There is a generic bag, but the generic bag is not known, it does not belong to anyone," he expressed.

The councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has also informed that he intends to unite all the mayors of the island to inform them directly of this situation. "Where are those projects? I have requested all the reports from the Water Consortium and I see that there are no defined, completed projects."

Noda has also denounced "losses" in Education, Health or Agriculture. "These budgets are quite bad for Lanzarote," he added. "La Gomera also stands out. I will also speak with Casimiro to find out how he does it, to know how a local formation influences the regional budgets," he pointed out.

Óscar Noda wanted to highlight that the representatives of the Canarian Coalition have not shown their disagreement with this draft of the general budgets of the Canary Islands for 2024. "The excuse is that there were no projects, then that we must be supportive, but it has never meant that it increases in that amount while the discourse of the islands is reduced."
