This Wednesday, November 24, the Lanzarote Film Festival begins, whose 11th edition will be dedicated to the wind, a meteorological phenomenon "that has marked countless aspects of Humanity, such as architecture, cultivation, leisure, geology, clothing or navigation." Hence, the place chosen for the inauguration is El Jable, a place shaped and created by the Alisios and the Sirocco.

From the Cabildo de Lanzarote they detail that during 12 days "more than fifty professionals" will pass through the island, who, together with the people who come to the room or any of the activities, will turn Lanzarote "into an environment capable of promoting thought, debate and creativity."

The Culture Councilor of the Corporation, Alberto Aguiar, has pointed out that the Exhibition "is one of the most interesting cultural proposals in Lanzarote, which also emerged from the cultural fabric of the island, which has been growing every year and becoming increasingly significant." This is due, according to the councilor, on the one hand, "to the selection of rigorous content, which also always links contemporary culture with our historical, natural and social uniqueness." And on the other, Aguiar adds, "to the great effort, the enormous work, commitment and enthusiasm that the entire Exhibition team puts into the organization of each edition."

"Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate them publicly and renew the commitment of the Cabildo de Lanzarote to projects like this one," the councilor said.

After eleven years of work, the Exhibition has become "a referential project for the island." This was stated by the director of the Lanzarote Film Festival, Javier Fuentes Feo, who stressed that one of the objectives pursued is "to link culture with the natural and historical uniqueness of our island and help present Lanzarote in the world as a place where quality culture is produced." "We want Lanzarote to be, and thus transmit it, a place where it is worth living, and a place where life is, therefore, interesting, diverse and rich," added Fuentes Feo.

From November 24 to December 5, "thirty-six films from countries as diverse as Iran, India, Canada, Mexico, the United States, France or Argentina" will be presented in different municipalities of the island. In addition, the Corporation explains that the vast majority "will be presented by their own directors."

Also, twenty of these films, from different geographies and from all the history of cinema, "will have the wind as a backbone element", and will be screened, like the Official Section and the Short Film Section, in the Buñuel Room of El Almacén.

Guided tours will also be carried out through the most unique environments of Lanzarote, such as the tongue of jable; workshops, courses and debates will be launched and screenings for families will be held.
