The City Council of Teguise will put out to tender two restoration projects in the historic center of the municipality, with an investment of more than one million euros, framed within the municipal cooperation plans approved by the Cabildo of Lanzarote for 2023.
The Councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, highlights that the action contemplates an investment of "1.2 million euros", an item that "will mean an improvement of municipal infrastructures and services, in addition to contributing to the improvement and conservation of the environment of the most emblematic area of Teguise."
For her part, the mayoress Olivia Duque highlights that "the close collaboration maintained from the town hall with the island corporation allows progress to be made in the implementation of works that represent an important boost for the municipality, highlighting one of the areas with the greatest historical, tourist and cultural weight."
At this time, the Department of Roads and Works has already requested the transfer of funding for the two projects from the Cabildo of Lanzarote. These include the restoration of the old school of Teguise, located on Santo Domingo Street, in order to "house the technical office" of the municipality. The action contemplates an investment of "700,000 euros."
The second intervention will focus on the paving of 14 streets that are located in the historic center of Teguise, to which an item of "450,000 euros" will be allocated. In this case, the roads of the historic center located in the vicinity of the town hall will be included, as well as the street of the old school, that of the historical archive, in addition to some of the most relevant historical constructions of Teguise, such as the Church of Vera Cruz and the convent of Santo Domingo.
With all this, we are committed to the modernization of municipal infrastructures, providing them with more modern services, in addition to the improvement of the quality of life of the neighbors.
