The Teguise City Council has for the first time put out to public tender the contracting of the comprehensive service for the organization and promotion of the municipality's street markets, for a total amount of 403,528 euros for the next two years.

Specifically, the new contract affects the operation of the market that takes place every Sunday in the Villa de Teguise, one of the most important in Spain, as well as the one in Costa Teguise, both the artisan and the agricultural, and the market that is held in La Graciosa.

The councilor responsible for the Markets Area, Eugenio Robayna, highlights that "for the first time we are processing a tender of these characteristics from the City Council to improve the operation and organization of the municipal market network, a fact that will undoubtedly contribute to improving the services provided and the promotion of the same."

Robayna emphasizes that "the needs demanded by the markets are of utmost importance. On the one hand, there is the administrative management carried out by the City Council workers and, on the other hand, there are the external services, such as transportation, placement and removal of traffic signs, information posters, or the cleaning service itself, medical health care, or the services of dynamization, coordination and direction, among others."

The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, states that, specifically, the Villa de Teguise market, with an average of 10,000 visitors every Sunday and with more than 450 stalls of handicrafts, agricultural products, pastries or antiques, "has become a consolidated event, of great tourist attraction, which generates an important economic impact not only among the vendors but also in the commercial and restaurant fabric of the Villa."

Duque points out that "the commitment to boosting this and the rest of the municipal markets is vital to keep them active and to attract visitors to our municipality, a fact that also has a positive impact on the influx to our museums and public spaces."

The mayor affirms that "the dynamization of the municipal market network, with the implementation of different activities, such as musical or folk performances or tastings of our local products, will allow us to publicize our cultural, artistic and enogastronomic wealth among those who visit us."

Tender in three lots

The tender for the contracting of the comprehensive service for the operation of the markets has been divided into three different lots, the first of which is for the organization, coordination, emergency and health services of the markets, with a base budget of 221,868 euros; lot number 2 for the market dynamization service with a budget of 137,123 euros and lot number 3 for advertising services with a budget of around 45,000 euros.

From the Contracting department, headed by Javier Díaz, they point out that for the management of these services the hiring of different personnel is also contemplated, among which cleaning, security and support personnel stand out, in addition to an engineer, a doctor, several health workers, an ambulance driver and a veterinarian, among others.

Interested companies can obtain more information through the State Procurement Platform.

Likewise, the deadline for submitting bids for this tender concludes on April 3.
