The Teguise City Council has announced that it has made the payment of "more than 1 million euros" in subsidies to groups. This amount is within the Strategic Subsidy Plan, endowed with 2 million euros, "destined to the projects and activities of the different entities and associations of the municipality, especially to social emergency aid".
"Of the total investment, and once the respective calls have been closed so that all non-profit groups operating in Teguise can develop their projects for the benefit of citizens, we have proceeded to the payment of 1 million euros, which will be effective from today", said this Wednesday the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.
"The priority for the Government team has been that the amounts corresponding to each of the entities arrive as soon as possible and we can continue to boost and assist each of the demands", added Betancort.
"In addition to this line of competitive concurrence subsidies that will materialize from today until next week, the Plan includes another million euros for the rest of the nominative projects that have already been entered", explained the head of the area, Javier Díaz.
The councilor recalls that in terms of Social Action, the City Council has established the following lines of subsidy: "social emergency aid, housing, rehabilitation of homes and personal autonomy; projects for the Elderly; Equality subsidies; subsidies for Social Projects and the Association of People with Intellectual Disabilities of Lanzarote (Adislan)".
On the other hand, from the Consistory point out that the subsidies in the field of Culture have been granted to "the Federation of Folkloric and Cultural Associations Virgen de las Nieves; to festivities and Carnival associations; to the Municipal Music Band of Teguise Teguiband; to the Municipal Polyphonic Choir of Teguise; to the Rancho de Pascuas of Teguise; to Los Diabletes of Teguise and to the promotion of cultural activities".
Finally, in the area of Sports, aid is included for "projects and sports clubs of municipal interest", while in the area of Education, aid has been increased "to students of the municipality in the financing of the costs involved in the transfer to the different universities and educational centers". In addition, payment has also been made to subsidies to educational centers and AMPAS, UNED and rural schools.
This plan also includes, according to the City Council of Teguise, "the subsidies of the primary sector", specifically, to the Federation of Agricultural and Fisheries Associations Castillo de Teguise, to the various socio-cultural centers, to environmental subsidies and aid to traders, as well as to the NGO Prensa Juvenil Canarias.
