The Department of Roads and Works of the Teguise City Council is executing the Comprehensive Plan for Conservation and Maintenance of Public Spaces throughout the municipality.

The Councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, highlights that these actions focus on "the performance of cleaning, painting and conservation work in the different enclaves of the municipality, in order to improve their condition, and that in this case will affect all the towns of Teguise and, of course, the island of La Graciosa."

Along with these actions, which are being carried out with the City Council's own funds, the Employment Plan Cuidemos Lanzarote y La Graciosa, financed by the Cabildo through the Employment Area, is also being implemented in the municipality. Specifically, it is lot four, thanks to which 24 people have been hired who work in different actions with the aim of beautifying the municipality, such as the improvement and improvement of the coast of Teguise and La Graciosa; the cleaning and conservation of population centers and the adaptation and cleaning of road margins, among others.

In this sense, the island councilor of the Employment Area, Ascensión Toledo, points out that "the objective is to support Teguise, as well as the rest of the municipalities on the island, to promote the labor insertion of unemployed people, primarily over 40 years of age, registered in the employment office as job seekers."

The Councilor for Employment, Myriam Jorge, highlights that "the different municipal employment plans, together with the Cabildo's employment plan, are allowing the hiring of new personnel to reinforce the work and actions in different parts of the municipality, which has contributed to improving unemployment figures."

In this sense, she recalls that, during the past month of December, a reduction in unemployment of 6.4% was achieved compared to the same month of 2022, while at the same time the best figures since January 2019 were recorded.

Finally, the mayoress Olivia Duque also values the reduction of unemployment in the municipality of Teguise and affirms that "the employment plans launched play a key role not only in improving employability in our municipality, but also in the conservation and cleaning of each of our towns, so that they look beautiful and pleasant for both residents and the many tourists who visit us every year."

Duque highlights that more than 40 people who were unemployed have been hired since the beginning of this term, mainly laborers, cleaning staff, bricklayers, painters, as well as home help workers and janitors. Likewise, Duque appreciates "the collaboration and determined involvement" on the part of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, "which has played an important role in the development of these actions."
