Tinajo Town Council is continuing with the Asphalt Plan to improve mobility and the quality of streets in every corner of the municipality. In the first round, the asphalting in areas such as Guatiza, Tahíche and Costa Teguise was put out to tender, and just a couple of weeks later, new areas worth 1,529,973.73 have been announced in the towns in the southern part of the municipality, known among residents as "la vuelta de abajo" [the lower loop], asphalting a total of 70,487 square meters.

In this case, the focus is on roads of great length and symbolic weight, such as Calle Sancocho in Mozaga, Vía San Juan Evangelista in Soo, Calle Azadón in Muñique, Calle Achaman in Tiagua, or the area next to the Teleclub and the church in Tao, among others, which concentrate a good part of the projected improvement. In total, some 21 streets with new asphalt pavements.

This plan will be developed progressively between early 2026 and mid-year, financed mainly with own resources from the municipal surplus, and with the intention of collaborating with other institutions such as the Cabildo de Lanzarote. Olivia Duque's government group has already allocated almost 4 million euros this year to new asphalt pavements. It should be remembered that a road surface reinforcement project is already underway on the LZ-30 island road (Mozaga-Famara), promoted by the Cabildo, which shows how pavement renewal actions are a priority in the Teguise road network.

Mayor Olivia Duque emphasized that this plan seeks to offer concrete results for residents and strengthen mobility and road safety in all the towns of the municipality: "I am aware that many streets in the municipality require urgent improvement, and this project was born precisely for that: so that residents see concrete results as soon as possible. Teguise cannot be understood without its towns. Each nucleus, no matter how small, has life, history, and residents who deserve to be heard and cared for. For that reason, this paving plan is not just an investment in infrastructure, it is a commitment to our towns and a commitment to its people," Duque highlighted.

Furthermore, with the aim of bringing the municipal government closer to all citizens, visits to the towns of the municipality begin this week, where the mayor and her team will explain firsthand the improvement projects in each locality. During the coming weeks, meetings will be held in the 24 towns of the municipality, progressively addressing the progress and details of the Asphalt Plan and other priority projects, so that each community can learn firsthand how these improvements will be implemented.

From the Department of Public Works, Eugenio Robayna, highlighted that the municipality's paving network "is in continuous progress." Several central roads in La Villa de Teguise were recently paved, such as Calle del Convento and some in Costa Teguise, in response to a cooperation plan with the Cabildo. With the following actions, the Teguise Town Hall's Paving Plan is progressing at a good pace, "our purpose is for this Paving Plan to move forward effectively, and for the streets to be safer, more passable and in optimal condition by early or mid-2026. Every decision we make aims to improve the lives of citizens, and this project is a clear example of this."
