Teguise celebrates having reached a 10 in institutional transparency

Oswaldo Betancort congratulates the Corporation "for achieving an outstanding grade and improving after the evaluation of the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands"

The Teguise City Council has made public its satisfaction after passing with honors the annual evaluation carried out by the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands, an body that allows all Canarian public entities to calculate the Transparency Index of the Canary Islands (ITCanarias), a public ranking of an autonomous nature that aims to help entities improve transparency and reduce opacity in an agile and economical way.

“In the evaluation obtained last October, Teguise reached a score of 9.72 in terms of the quality of the transparency portals throughout the Canary Islands, and now that this assessment is final we have to celebrate having reached the maximum score,” said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.

This grade obtained by the Teguise City Council corresponds to the 2019 financial year and has meant an increase of more than 2 points compared to its own rating in 2018, so Betancort has reiterated his congratulations “to the entire Teguise Corporation for having managed to improve and demonstrate that with desire and constant effort the institution can adapt efficiently to the new demands of citizens and the use of new technologies to offer all the data, reports and documents on municipal management that accurately reflect the activity through the online Transparency Portal.”

“Our mission now is to maintain this maximum level of transparency, which implies guaranteeing one hundred percent the right of access to information for taxpayers,” added Oswaldo Betancort, who also congratulated “the administrations of all the Canary Islands that have passed this evaluation with flying colors” and encouraged the rest “to continue working to be able to have and present in the clearest and most accessible way the management that is carried out from the institution closest to the citizen, as is the case of the City Councils, but also from the Cabildos, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Universities,” added Betancort.
