The Teguise City Council is starting cleaning work on drains and filtering wells, as well as water channels in urban areas, ahead of the arrival of the rainy season. The objective of this initiative is to remove plant remains and other waste from the municipal drainage network to avoid puddles and floods.
The mayoress, Olivia Duque, emphasizes the need to carry out these works at the arrival of autumn to avoid the accumulation of water that affects both residents and road traffic. “With this cleaning campaign, we seek to ensure that the drainage system is in perfect condition to minimize any risk associated with rainfall,” says the mayoress.
For his part, the Councilor for Works, Eugenio Robayna, details that the actions have been carried out periodically in strategic points, where there have been major waterlogging problems. “We are intervening in those areas where we know that the rains can generate greater complications, such as the Costa Teguise area and other urban areas.
During these days, municipal technicians and operators have removed waste from the interiors of the manholes and have unclogged the rainwater drainage systems.
