The City Council of Teguise announces the start of the construction works of the roundabout that will facilitate access to the Costa Teguise recycling center and is expected to be completed in June. The infrastructure, fully financed by the Island Council of Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works, has a cost of over 400,000 euros.
The mayor, Olivia Duque, assures that "this roundabout is a fundamental improvement for Costa Teguise, because it facilitates access to the recycling center, contributes to a more fluid circulation and increases safety and quality of life in the area." She also thanks the Cabildo "for showing a great commitment to improving public services."
The Councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, explains that this action "responds to a neighborhood demand, especially from the Avenida el Golf residential area, one of the fastest growing areas, and will improve both the safety and mobility of the residents of the area." Furthermore, it is "a clear example of how small infrastructures can have a great impact on the daily life of our municipality," he adds.
The local company Herederos de Juan Acuña is carrying out these works. The construction of the roundabout is key to improving the mobility and accessibility of this area of the municipality. In addition, it responds to a historical demand, taking into account that the recycling center, completed in 2019, could not start operating until a provisional access was enabled in November 2022.
During the development of the works, partial cuts will be made in the route that connects Costa Teguise with Tahíche, so caution and understanding are requested from drivers and residents of the area.
