The Teguise City Council has approved the Municipal Budgets for the 2026 fiscal year in the plenary session held this Tuesday, becoming the first city council in Lanzarote to pass its accounts for this fiscal year. This is a milestone that "reinforces the institutional stability of the municipality and allows for advance planning of the management and execution of municipal projects."

The budget amounts to 40,208,000 euros, representing an increase of more than one million euros compared to the previous year, and it is approved without resorting to debt, adhering to the principles of budgetary stability, financial balance, and responsibility in public management. This is the highest budget in Teguise's history without financial burdens, prepared with its own funds and adjusted to the current economic situation.

The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that "the approval of these budgets is a sign of seriousness, planning, and commitment to the municipality," emphasizing that "these are accounts designed to improve people's lives, strengthen public services, and respond to the real needs of Teguise's families and groups." Duque expressly wished to thank "the work, responsibility, and effort of the government partners, whose involvement has been key to approving a solid budget on time."

The mayor also emphasized that the 2026 budget "maintains a balanced vision of the municipality, with actions designed for all the towns and villages of Teguise, addressing their specific needs and ensuring that municipal resources reach the entire territory in a fair and proportionate manner."For his part, the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Javier Díaz, pointed out that "the 2026 budget consolidates a model of responsible management, without debt and focused on services." In this regard, he explained that "all **items allocated to basic services are maintained or increased**, guaranteeing adequate attention to families, the elderly, children, and all social groups in the municipality." Díaz emphasized that "approving the budget at the beginning of the year allows for better execution, rigorous planning, and taking advantage of funding opportunities from other administrations."

Municipal accounts reinforce priority areas such as Social Services, Education, and the improvement of public facilities, with increases aimed at supporting families, improving educational centers, and ensuring more accessible, safe, and quality public spaces. Likewise, allocations are consolidated for strategic sectors such as tourism, commerce, agriculture, culture, sports, security, and emergencies, which are fundamental for the economic and social development of the municipality.

In terms of investments, the 2026 budget focuses on attracting external financing, European funds, and collaboration with other administrations, which will allow for the mobilization of over 14.7 million euros in investments aimed at infrastructure, accessibility, public spaces, beaches, sports facilities, and urban improvements in the different areas of the municipality.

From the governing group, the approval of these budgets is valued as "a key tool for continued progress, guaranteeing stability, planning, and responsible management, focused on people and the balanced development of Teguise and La Graciosa."
