The Teguise City Council has approved in the Governing Board the technical and legal report of the surface renovation project of the asphalt pavement, as well as the road signage, both horizontal and vertical, of the main roads of Costa Teguise, Tahiche, Nazaret, La Villa de Teguise and Guatiza.

The Council explains that a total of 48,468 square meters of streets that present "cracks, disintegration, deformations and potholes" will be remodeled, with significant surface deterioration, as is the case of important arteries of Costa Teguise, such as Piteras, Laguna, Real and surrounding streets, contemplated in a first batch of 1,013,000 euros. This is joined by a second batch for the nuclei of Tahiche, Nazaret, La Villa de Teguise and Guatiza, whose investment will be almost 1.8 million euros.

“Both asphalt surface renovation projects in urban and rural areas of Teguise amount to 2.8 million euros, and respond to the need to improve the safety and comfort of the roads indicated in the report, through a significant investment that will also cover conservation and maintenance works,” said the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort.

For his part, the Councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, clarified that “these are old infrastructures where different works have been carried out, especially canalizations, and that have left traces and potholes in them.” “On the other hand, some of the aforementioned streets have small sections with soft spots that require a special treatment consisting of reinforcing the base of the road surface layer,” he explains.

The Teguise City Council clarifies that the two interventions will be carried out "without depending on each other for their execution, commissioning and use, so they will be executed independently." The Contracting office of the Consistory, which is coordinated by Olivia Duque, will be in charge of the award process, once the projects have the approval of the technicians.

“New reports will be approved soon for the south and north areas of the municipality in order to cover the maximum number of points possible,” announced the councilor.
