The Teguise City Council, through the Department of Subsidies coordinated by Javier Díaz, has approved three lines of public subsidies for a total of 228,000 euros aimed at promoting and protecting the social and economic fabric of the municipality, especially that linked to the agricultural, livestock and fishing sector, traditional culture and popular festivals.
The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that "this is a call that supports those who keep our traditions alive, cultivate our fields or participate in our festivals. Teguise is a municipality with a rural and cultural soul, and we will continue to protect everything that gives us identity."
For his part, the coordinator of the Department of Subsidies, Javier Díaz, stressed the importance of maintaining this support in a context in which agriculture and fishing continue to face enormous challenges, such as the shortage of generational replacement. "These aids are a direct tool that encourages and accompanies our professionals and groups," Díaz pointed out.
Interested persons and entities may submit their applications from this Monday, July 21 and ends on Friday, August 1, 2025, inclusive. All information regarding the bases, evaluation criteria and necessary documentation is published in the National Database of Subsidies and in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
Municipal support for agriculture, culture and tradition
The first of the lines, endowed with 58,000 euros, is destined to farmers, ranchers, fishermen, cooperatives and brotherhoods of the municipality. Its objective is to support the maintenance and improvement activities of the sector, fundamental to preserve the landscape, rural employment and food sovereignty in Teguise.
A second call for subsidies, with an amount of 70,000 euros, is aimed at folklore groups, cultural and musical non-profit associations based in Teguise. This line seeks to maintain, promote and disseminate popular culture both inside and outside the municipality through projects of traditional roots.
Finally, the Teguise City Council has enabled a line of 100,000 euros to support non-profit associations and entities that organize recreational and festive activities included in the official calendar of festivals of the municipality, as well as the groups participating in the Carnival. The deadline to submit applications in any of the three lines will be ten business days from the official publication in the BOP of Las Palmas.
"These aids are a reflection of the commitment of the Government Group to the balanced development of the municipality. We will continue working to ensure that our traditions, our primary sector and our festivals continue to be a driving force for cohesion, employment and pride for all the inhabitants of the municipality," concluded Olivia Duque.
