The Teguise City Council has launched a new contract for the conservation, maintenance, and improvement of horizontal and vertical signage in the municipality, awarded for an amount of 214,000 euros. This action will allow for continued reinforcement of road safety and improvement of mobility for both drivers and pedestrians in the different areas of the municipality.
The actions, which are being carried out progressively in the towns and coastal areas, respond to the needs identified by municipal services and the demands made by residents, with the aim of improving safety, accessibility, and traffic management.
Among the actions already carried out, the repainting and reinforcement of horizontal signage on numerous pedestrian crossings in Costa Teguise stands out, as well as the renewal of vertical signs at different points in the tourist town, improving their visibility and contributing to greater road safety.
Likewise, in Tahiche, repainting work is being carried out in the vicinity of social, health, cultural, and educational spaces, including the surroundings of the sociocultural center, the pharmacy, the church, the educational centers, and various commercial and service areas.
The contract also includes the installation of new vertical signage, the replacement of deteriorated elements, and the creation of new driveways and parking reservations, responding to requests submitted by citizens and the needs identified in the different areas of the municipality. This investment will allow for continuous action throughout the municipal area, addressing both planned actions and new demands that arise during the contract's validity.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, emphasizes that "we continue to work to improve road safety and accessibility in all the towns of the municipality, addressing the needs that our residents convey to us." She also points out that "these actions allow us to improve mobility and contribute to making our public spaces safer and more comfortable for all citizens."
For his part, the councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, explains that "this contract allows us to act more quickly and effectively in the conservation and renewal of signage, guaranteeing a continuous response to the needs that arise in each locality."
The Councilor for Traffic, Ginés González, emphasizes that “adequate signage is fundamental to improving coexistence between pedestrians and drivers and increasing safety in areas of high traffic and in the surroundings of public services and educational centers”.
