The cleaning staff of the Arrecife sports facilities suspend the strike, after receiving their salaries

Workers of the company Volconsa, in charge of the conservation, maintenance, cleaning and concierge services of the sports facilities of Arrecife and the Sociocultural Centers have suspended the strike that was scheduled for this Friday, as confirmed to La Voz by the delegate for Intersindical Canaria, Cándido García. Despite the suspension, the scheduled sports matches will still not be held.

The strike was called on Thursday afternoon by the workers, due to the delay they were experiencing in receiving their paychecks, as they were owed the monthly payment for January. "We were waiting to see if we would get paid or not, but we finally got paid today, so we have decided to postpone the strike to March 16, if the situation repeats itself," García said.

However, the workers continue to complain that they cannot carry out their usual work normally because, they say, the company in charge of the service does not supply its workers with the necessary material for it. In some sports facilities, public restrooms are closed due to lack of toilet paper. They also do not have the necessary liquids to clean the changing rooms of the sports venues.

The call for the strike had affected the normal development of the competitions scheduled for this Friday, forcing the postponement of several matches, due to the lack of facilities. Now, despite the suspension of the strike, the matches will still not be held, as the clubs had already notified the players that this would be the case.
