The president of the Popular Party (PP) in the Canary Islands and former vice president of the Canarian Government, José Manuel Soria, has assured that if he maintains members of his party in the regional Executive it is because the regional president, Paulino Rivero, asked him to, since in the Canarian Coalition (CC) "they do not have" enough staff to guarantee the operation of certain essential public services.

Soria explained that when Rivero raised this situation, he had no problems in accepting as long as they were not positions of "first or second level", because the councilors or vice-councilors "have a much more political profile than the general directors or technical general secretaries may have".

In this sense, the president of the Canarian populars affirmed that they have no inconvenience in those positions -held by members of the PP- continuing to carry out their work "following the criteria that they had been carrying out, due to an issue of efficient operation of public services".

Soria, before the meeting of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the PP of Gran Canaria, insisted that they want to guarantee the stability of the Government of the Canary Islands but clarified that this does not mean that they support any issue, "but we will not fall into inconsistencies" of rejecting issues that they supported when they were present in the regional Executive.
