The Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council, led by Maite Corujo, has launched an innovative program called “Emerging profiles and social support” which is implemented after the granting to this Corporation of a subsidy by the Island Council of Lanzarote for the execution by the Arrecife City Council of the project “Arrecife Camin@ 2024” to improve the attention and analysis of community social services. This initiative focuses on three key areas: emerging profiles, emergencies, and social support.

The project seeks to study and analyze the new profiles that access Community Social Services, with the aim of planning projects and services more adapted to the current needs of citizens. An exhaustive data collection will be carried out that will not only examine the demand for which people come, but also the profile of those who use these services for the first time.

As Maite Corujo explains, “with Arrecife Camin@ 2024 we are taking a step forward in the modernization and efficiency of our Social Services. We want to better understand the emerging needs of our neighbors to offer more personalized and effective care.”

One of the most notable novelties is the implementation of a service that will allow screening and channeling the demand of citizens who require immediate attention. This service seeks to analyze the real nature of the urgencies and emergencies attended from the Social Services.

“It is essential that we can distinguish between true emergencies and situations that, although worrying, can be addressed through our regular channels. This will allow us to optimize resources and guarantee rapid attention to those who need it most,” adds Corujo.

The project also includes a line of action based on social support. The technical staff of the area will coordinate each case with the Social Worker of the project to provide an adequate response to individual support needs. This process will allow to collect and analyze the profiles that require this type of support and the level of support they need.

“With this project, we are building a bridge between social services and citizens. Our goal is that no resident of Arrecife is left behind due to lack of information or difficulties in managing procedures. Arrecife Camin@ 2024 is another step towards more accessible, efficient and people-centered social services."

The project “Arrecife Camin@ 2024” is financed by the Island Council of Lanzarote and has the collaboration of the Canarian Employment Service.
