The former regional deputy of the PP for the island of Lanzarote, Sigfrid Soria, has justified in this way [the controversial comments he made on Twitter->76202], where he threatened to give "a slap" (sic) to the "hippies" who "harass" him and to "tear off their heads" if they attacked any of his daughters. These words have cost him the opening of disciplinary proceedings by his party and, in addition, [his dismissal from "any organic responsibility".->76203]
In an interview on the program "La Destiladera", on Radio Lanzarote, Sigfrid Soria has assured that he "absolutely ignores" the PP's response to this controversy, since "no one" from his party has called him to "reprove him, reproach him or communicate" that they are going to remove him from his organic position. "No one has called me for this extreme. I have received dozens, if not hundreds of calls, from my party and from people who are not from my party, supporting me in this cause", he defended.
He even pointed out, as a "personal opinion": "I believe that the vast majority of my party, in terms of substance, agrees with what I have written". However, the PP in the Canary Islands and in Lanzarote have already condemned his attitude, which even from the island of Lanzarote has been described as "fascist".
Sigfrid Soria has stated that he feels "overwhelmed, surprised and uncomfortable" with this "notoriety" that his words on Twitter have had, and that have been reflected by media throughout Spain.
The former regional deputy of the PP has justified these tweets in the "weariness" he feels towards the escraches and the "verbal violence" he has perceived on Twitter. "You only have to spend half an hour on Twitter to see the brutal verbal violence that exists against PP politicians and we have been going on for several weeks. It is something that no one can get used to. PP politicians are being harassed, singled out and stickers have been put on the facades of their homes", he denounced.
"I absolutely ratify the substance"
Precisely for this reason and far from retracting, he has asked for "apologies for the forms", but has ratified himself "absolutely in the substance". "The substance is the proclamation of an exercise that assists all Spaniards, which is the exercise of the right to legitimate defense. What is happening is unacceptable. These anti-democratic behaviors that some are exercising on PP and UPyD politicians are totally reprehensible", he stated on Radio Lanzarote.
Thus, he has reiterated, as he did on Twitter, that "if someone" from his family or himself suffers an aggression, "he will not hesitate for a minute, not even a second, to exercise his right to legitimate defense". "This is self-evident. I am never going to turn the other cheek", he insisted.
In this interview, Sigfrid Soria did not want to clarify whether he personally has received threats. "I am going to reserve my own issues and I am not going to share them in the media, there are other areas such as the police and the judicial", he limited himself to saying. What he did assure is that he finds it "reprehensible" that "certain groups use the human drama of evictions against certain politicians".
"How long will it take for us to have a dramatic case?"
Faced with the escraches and the "harassment" that, in his opinion, PP politicians are suffering, Sigfrid Soria has even asked himself: "How close are we to a drama occurring? My PP colleague in Badajoz, his home suffered an attempted arson with gasoline and with his children inside. How long will it take Spain to witness the first dramatic case derived from this issue? I, before this happens, I am already anticipating that I will use violence without hesitation, in attention to my right to legitimate defense", he defended.
