The Lanzarote Cabildo, through the Island Sports Service, is already preparing the management of the 2026 Open Water Cup, this year being the twelfth edition.

With this objective, two key tenders have been published for the development of the activity on the island. It is, on the one hand, the service of timing and merchandising, with a budget of more than 37,000 euros and, on the other, the service of organizing the closing of the event, with an amount exceeding 15,000 euros.

The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón, highlights that “these tenders are fundamental to guarantee the correct development of the Cup”, and points out that “the closing ceremony is an important moment to recognize the effort of the athletes and all the people involved in the organization”.

The timing and merchandising contract, with an execution period of eight months, will allow guaranteeing the technical control of the events through specialized systems for time measurement, registration management, and the preparation of classifications on each of the days. Likewise, it includes the production of official merchandising for the Cup, contributing to reinforce the event's identity and improve the participants' experience.

On the other hand, the Cabildo has also tendered the service for the organization of the Cup's closing ceremony, divided into three lots: catering for attendees, infrastructure setup, and recording and projection of the event. This contract, with a duration of seven months, aims to organize a closing event for which the logistics service, technical production, and recognition of participants will be contracted.

Interested entities may submit their offers through the Public Sector Contracting Platform within the deadlines established in each procedure. Availability is required from 9:00 to 20:00 hours during the duration of all events.

The closing ceremony is presented as a meeting space in which the participation of athletes will be valued, as well as the involvement of clubs, collaborating entities, and technical staff who make possible the development of the Cup throughout the entire season.

The event will feature six races in total: San Juan Crossing (June 27); II La Tiñosa Crossing (August 1) San Ginés Crossing (August 22); EMMAX Crossing (August 29) ; Alejandro Candela Crossing (October 17); and Papagayo Crossing (November 7).
