Pedro de Armas was the one who filed a complaint with Seprona against Dimas Martín, for the illegal works he was carrying out at his family home in Los Rostros. This was confirmed this Tuesday by one of the agents of this Civil Guard unit, who came to testify as a witness within the piece of the Unión case that investigates alleged crimes against land management for these works, as well as prevarication, falsehood in public document and influence peddling.
According to the agent, Pedro de Armas expressly requested that his name not appear when filing the complaint. However, when asked by the judge investigating this case, the witness confirmed that this complaint came from the current PNL-Nueva Canarias councilor in Arrecife.
When De Armas brought this issue to the attention of the Civil Guard, in 2009, both Dimas Martín and other politicians and businessmen on the island had their telephones tapped by the UCO, within Operation "Unión". Thus, the course that this complaint followed and the conversations intercepted by the agents led to the indictment of Dimas and several other people in this separate piece of the "Unión" case, focused on those works that De Armas denounced.
Along with Dimas Martín, his wife, Elena Martín, who was the owner of the home, is also charged in this piece; as well as the current mayor of Yaiza, Gladys Acuña; the then deputy mayor, Leonardo Rodríguez; and the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, who at that time was president of CC in Lanzarote.
In addition, the role of several technicians from the Yaiza City Council is also being investigated, since fraudulent documents were allegedly made to try to legalize these works later, which were carried out without a license on rustic land with natural protection.
