The president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, who this Wednesday dismissed all the PP councilors from the government group, has blamed the populars for the breakdown of the pact, denouncing an alleged "betrayal" by those who were his government partners. This was stated at the press conference he convened this Wednesday to explain his decision. "It is a sad day in life, but I have to face it with sorrow, integrity and responsibility," said the president.

In that intervention, San Ginés assured that the "trigger" for this rupture is due to the fact that the PP was "preparing a motion of censure" against him together with the PSOE. However, he himself has stated at the press conference that the populars deny it. "They have told me that it does not correspond to reality, but in this case I believe more in the word of third parties who have told us so and who will form the pact of the future government."

San Ginés has thanked the PP councilors "for their work and their loyalty, which has been generalized in almost all cases" and has blamed "the lack of vision of its president in this pact, which could have lasted until 2015" for the rupture.

The president of the Cabildo has charged with special harshness against Ástrid Pérez. The president has stated that "her deification has led her to want the presidency of the Cabildo" and that "the PP has not known how to manage the drunkenness of power." "The PP has tried to preside over its part of the Cabildo as if it could have two presidents. The Cabildo can only have, has had and will have a single Presidency. And of course, from the respect to the autonomy of the necessary partner to guarantee the necessary government majorities, as has been happening until now, but in the same way demanding respect for the presidency that has been lacking until now by said partner," he pointed out.

"I want to remind you that the presidency was not granted to CC and me by the PP, but by the voters by direct suffrage. And, therefore, it corresponds to CC and me, when it was not possible to govern in harmony with the chosen traveling companion, as is the case, the legitimate initiative to form a majority at all times, without the need for motions and without generating, if possible, any instability," added San Ginés.

According to San Ginés, "there have been eight months in which, fundamentally, the president of the PP has been permanently installed in absolute distrust and in the denunciation in inappropriate forums of the permanent interference of the one who speaks to you". An interference that San Ginés has specified that "is not only uncertain, but impossible, to the extent that the president is disqualified from committing it, since I am ultimately responsible for all areas of the Corporation."

Differences and disagreements

The president of the Cabildo has also referred to the "many differences and disagreements" that they have had with the PP councilors and with their president, Ástrid Pérez, since the legislature began, just over half a year ago. "We have had more than enough reasons not to have broken the pact before," San Ginés specified.

"There have been disagreements, although it is not worth getting bogged down in each of them, but it is worth exposing some of the major differences."

One of the "major disagreements", according to the president of the Cabildo, has been the budgets. "As president, I have approved three budgets when we were four forces that made up this government. In this mandate, being only two forces of the pact, it has been impossible for us," San Ginés pointed out.

Another of the differences, according to San Ginés, has been "the refusal to professionalize the tourism sector and the sectarianism with which it has been intended to manage the Tourism area." In this sense, San Ginés has specified that, from the PP, they refused to install a professional as CEO in the Tourist Centers, without political affiliation. A measure that CC has already announced that it will carry out.

To this, according to the president of the Cabildo, we must add "the null intention to take a further step in tackling the multi-million dollar losses in the restoration of the Tourist Centers, which exceeded 3 million euros last year." "The Cabildo has not received a penny since 2006 when I was CEO and it is urgent that the Cabildo receive resources again that are so necessary at this time," said San Ginés, who has acknowledged that, yes, the management of the Tourist Centers "has improved considerably."

Likewise, San Ginés has referred to the Foreign Promotion Society, which "the PP intended to dispense with from next Friday", "without having a proposal or an alternative instrument to the collegial and co-financed decision-making with the tourism sector." In this sense, San Ginés has denounced that the PP intended to replace the CEO of the same with "people of the confidence, I suppose, of the PP."

Regarding the Tourism Infrastructure Plan, agreed with the town councils for its execution by the Government of the Canary Islands, San Ginés has stated that Ástrid Pérez intended to "absurdly" manage these resources from the Tourism area, "which does not have a contracting or public works office, as no other area of the Cabildo has." In addition, San Ginés added, "in an exercise of intolerable provocation, she publicly and unilaterally announced and without prior consensus the call to the mayors for the distribution of said resources consigned in the budget of the Autonomous Community."

The president of the Cabildo has also assured that the PP has put "all kinds of difficulties to any project that had to do with tourism and that had not been promoted by the PP", such as the cycle path or the Enogastronomic Dynamization Plan, among others.
