San Bartolomé will allocate more than 70,000 euros to resurfacing a section of Chimidas street in Playa Honda

San Bartolomé will allocate more than 70,000 euros to resurface a section of Chimidas Street in Playa Honda

Chimidas Street in Playa Honda, in the section between Corbeta Street and Princesa Ico Street, presents "an advanced state of deterioration", so the City Council will execute a paving plan on this road, which is one of the "important" ones in the town. The work, whose project will have to be reported and go to contract for its tender, will have a budget of 73,240.12 euros and an execution period of one month.

As explained by the Councilor for Public Works of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera, this work was not included in the paving plan that is currently being developed in Playa Honda, because "it was pending a comprehensive action on the entire street by the Island Council". "But we have decided not to wait any longer and do the resurfacing with municipal funds, as it is one of the main arteries of vehicle traffic in the town," he said.

The main object of the actions to be executed will be to conserve or improve the functional characteristics (safety, comfort, etc.) of the road and the protection of the entire pavement (increased durability, impermeability, uniformity, appearance, etc.), in order to renew this traffic artery of the town of Playa Honda, which is one of the access roads to the town. This work will be paid for by the City Council with its own funds while the Cabildo concludes the project to widen the sidewalks of Chimidas Street, canalizations and public lighting, as well as subsequent resurfacing if necessary.

"Chimidas Street is one of the important roads in the town. That is why it is among our priorities, because it has significant deterioration due to the traffic it supports and because it is a traffic distribution road within Playa Honda. That is why our urgency to complete its resurfacing in the indicated sections. Once the paving plans are completed, numerous streets will be improved not only in Playa Honda, but throughout the municipality," said the mayoress, María Dolores Corujo.
