The San Bartolomé City Council has deposited the grants to students of the 2022-2023 academic year, in the modalities of Baccalaureate, Training Cycles and University Studies, which are not taught on the island or within the
municipality, according to each line of aid.
The council thus fulfills the established objective of setting the amount that students of the municipality receive for transport and accommodation aid at "one thousand euros." The Councilor for Education, Estefanía Luzardo, recalls that "since the 2019 academic year, transport and accommodation aid has been increasing from five hundred euros per student, until reaching one thousand euros in this academic year."
On the other hand, the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Antonio Rocío, explains that "these City Council grants benefit a total of three hundred and eight young people. In this way, "they are helped to cover the expenses incurred by studies in a family, especially those carried out outside the island, although there is also aid for those who study on the island outside the municipality."
Isidro Pérez Martín recalls that "the City Council established two lines of subsidized aid. On the one hand, there are Transport Aid (Line 1), with a single amount of "up to one hundred and twenty euros" for those students who are studying officially outside the municipality of San Bartolomé. On the other hand, one of "three hundred euros" for those who are studying officially outside the island.
In total, "83,220 euros" have been allocated and, on the other hand, Accommodation Aid (Line 2), which has a single amount of "seven hundred euros", intended for the accommodation of those students who are studying officially outside of Lanzarote, allocating a total of "160,300 euros." "A total of 229 students are beneficiaries of the two compatible lines of aid, so they will finally receive one thousand euros," concludes the mayor.
