The San Bartolomé City Council has incorporated this Monday fourteen new male and female workers into the Public Services area, within the framework of the ‘Lanzarote Island Council-San Bartolomé City Council Municipal Employment Plan 2025’.

This initiative has allowed the hiring of almost fifteen unemployed people from the municipality for a period of six months, full-time, while they will receive complementary training in languages and digital skills, thus reinforcing their professional training and improving their future job placement opportunities.

The project is financed by the Employment area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, with a subsidy of 190,899.69 euros, and co-financed by the San Bartolomé City Council. The call has prioritized people over 45 years of age, who will perform different professional profiles such as cleaning staff, painter laborers, and horticulture laborers.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that “this new employment plan reflects the firm commitment of the governing group to the creation of real job opportunities for our neighbors. We not only facilitate a contract for six months, but we offer training that improves their qualifications and expands their possibilities of access to the labor market”.

Likewise, he stressed that “the collaboration with the Cabildo de Lanzarote is fundamental to continue developing active employment policies that directly impact the well-being of citizens and the improvement of municipal public services”.

For her part, the Councilor for Employment, Alma González, pointed out that “this plan represents an especially important opportunity for people over 45 years of age, a group that often finds greater difficulties in rejoining the labor market. We are committed to complementing work experience with training in languages and digital skills, essential tools nowadays”.

González added that “with this initiative we not only reinforce the Public Services area, improving the attention and maintenance of our spaces, but we also actively contribute to the reduction of unemployment in the municipality”.

This action is part of the Collaboration Agreement signed between the Cabildo de Lanzarote and local corporations for their participation in the ‘Cabildo de Lanzarote Municipal Employment Plan 2025’, whose objective is the hiring of unemployed people for the performance of actions that redound to the benefit of the community and contribute to the decrease of unemployment on the island.

With this project, the City Council begins the second Employment Plan in the municipality in 2026, consolidating its commitment to labor insertion and the improvement of the quality of life of the residents of San Bartolomé.
