San Bartolomé finishes the Active Aging workshops with broad participation

The activities developed during the course have fostered the physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being of more than half a thousand elderly people from the municipality

The San Bartolomé City Council has closed the workshops of the Active Aging program corresponding to the current academic year, an initiative that has had broad participation and reaffirms the municipal commitment to the well-being, health, and social participation of the elderly in the municipality.

In total, the program has offered 522 places between San Bartolomé and Playa Honda, distributed in activities aimed at the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of the participants.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted the importance of these types of programs for improving the quality of life of the elderly in the municipality. “From the City Council, we continue to bet on policies that promote active, healthy, and participatory aging. These workshops not only contribute to physical and mental well-being, but also strengthen social bonds and combat unwanted loneliness,” he pointed out.

For her part, the councilor for the Elderly, Carmen Medina, thanked the involvement of all the participants and the professional team in charge of delivering the activities. “The great reception these workshops have demonstrates the need and value of generating spaces for meeting, learning, and care for our elderly. We will continue working to expand and improve a program that each year has more participation,” she affirmed.

In San Bartolomé, workshops on memory stimulation, therapeutic exercises, maintenance gymnastics, computer skills, “Breathe and activate,” “Serenate,” and crafts have been held, reaching a total of 185 places.

For their part, in Playa Honda, workshops on memory stimulation, therapeutic exercises, maintenance gymnastics, computer skills, “Breathe and activate,” “Serenate,” theater, and crafts were offered, with a total of 337 places.

The San Bartolomé City Council highly values the development of this edition of the workshops, consolidating a program that promotes healthy lifestyle habits, personal autonomy, and the active participation of the elderly in the social life of the municipality.
