The San Bartolomé City Council has approved the regulatory ordinance for the use of the picnic area next to the Casa Mayor Guerra, as well as the fiscal ordinance regulating the fee for authorization for the same. In this way, according to the mayor, María Dolores Corujo, "citizens and groups will be able to enjoy a public picnic area in San Bartolomé, which they can reserve in advance for the celebration of family events with a capacity limited to 100 people."
Interested parties will have to pay a fee of 35 euros at the time of submitting the application and the picnic area may only be used for the celebration of social development activities and strictly family events not open to public attendance, according to the City Council. The City Council highlights "the beauty of the area and its high heritage value and that a long-distance island trail (GR-131) passes through this BIC. In addition, it is pointed out that "shortly" improvement works will be carried out on the palm grove, with the creation of a sports circuit, among other actions.
The neighborhood will be able to enjoy a space for leisure and recreation that also contributes to enhancing the municipal heritage. "This area has had several renovation projects, which will soon be joined by an intervention to improve the palm grove consisting of providing irrigation, renovating the area, creating a kilometer-long circuit for running, a sports area and the location of barbecues outside," highlights Alexis Tejera, Councilor for Public Services, who also points out that an intervention was carried out in the garden area last year.
"The San Bartolomé picnic area is a municipal leisure and recreation area and its use may be made with prior administrative authorization, which is non-transferable. It may be requested by individuals for family events and associations and entities for social development activities, for any day of the year from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It has a maximum capacity of 100 people, submitting the application at least 30 days before the date for which the authorization is requested, and a deposit of 100 euros, proof of payment of the fee of 35 euros and a responsible declaration must accompany the application," explains the Councilor for Citizen Participation, María Dolores Fernández.
