The San Bartolomé City Council has approved the budgets for 2024 in a plenary session held this Wednesday. These budgets amount to 31 million euros, the highest in the municipality's history to date.

Also, during the plenary session, the awarding of the social agreement for the management of the Family Relief Center was agreed, a concession that is resolved in favor of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients and Other Dementias of Lanzarote (AFA). For this, they will have a budget allocation of 435,000 euros per year to cover the cost of the service.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has pointed out that the approved budgets will allow that “in 2024 our municipality continues to advance in social matters and that the council can maintain its commitment to the well-being and quality of life of the residents of San Bartolomé”.

Regarding the Family Relief Center, Pérez has expressed his satisfaction for the awarding of the management of the service, since it represents “a step forward and almost definitive for the implementation of an emblematic and priority project for the Government team”.

On the other hand, he has stated that the use of the social agreement entails indirect management with the awarded entity without profit motive, “it makes us a pioneering administration in the use of this formula on the island of Lanzarote”.

For his part, the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Antonio Rocío, has highlighted that San Bartolomé will have budgets for the next year “focused on people and the needs of the municipality, which will place us as an example of management and social responsibility both in Lanzarote and in the rest of the Canary Islands”.

In this regard, the councilor has explained that within this municipal budget a item of 435,000 euros is contemplated to cover the cost of the management service of the Family Relief Center, which adds “to the more than 700,000 euros that were used for the construction of the center, financed entirely with own municipal funds”, which is “a clear example of the priority and the way of understanding the policy of this Government group, which puts its objectives in the care of our elderly”, he concludes.
